Who inspires you? What gives you the drive to pursue success? In a Filipino setting, being successful in business does not only entail wits and enough finances to start with, but rather, it goes deeper than what we can scrape out from our pockets.
The inspiration derived from a beloved family member, is the most powerful motivation that drives the best of us. Looking into the heart of a Filipino entrepreneur, love for family is the reason behind the hard work, the daily sacrifices, and the unlimited ideals that are the essential ingredients to a successful business, no matter how big or small it is.
To fully demonstrate what goes on in a negosyante's heart, a video has been making the rounds online, and is touching hearts all over the world with its simple, yet poignant story of family and entrepreneurial success. The video, which has gained audiences from all over the world, is entitled "Grandma's Little Angel". It was directed by no less than Dan Villegas, an award-winning director and cinematographer, whose credits include local hits such as The Breakup Playlist, English Only Please, Bride for Rent, and She's the One.
It tells the story of a young woman named Kassie and her grandmother Linda, who used to run her own local chocolate shop in Lipa, Batangas. After Lola Linda's business closes down, Kassie, then a very young girl when this misfortune happened, continued to dream for her beloved grandmother, who has instilled in her the love for chocolate-making and the passion to pursue her dreams.

The video is from PLDT's micro-entrepreneurship arm, PLDT KaAsenso. PLDT VP and Home Marketing Director Gary Dujali, shares the inspiration behind the video. "The PLDT KaAsenso has always been about empowering micro-entrepreneurs, who are inspired by love for family to pursue business success. For most Filipinos, the personal desire for fame, power and wealth comes secondary. It's really the passion to provide better lives for our loved ones that drive us to wok hard for our dreams. Whatever it is that we do, there's nothing like family to motivate us, and that's a Filipino trait that PLDT KaAsenso fully supports and celebrates."
As PLDT's micro-entrepreneurship arm, PLDT KaAsenso is committed to providing services that are tailor-fit to address the diverse needs of hardworking and family-oriented negosyantes.
Dujali added, "PLDT KaAsenso believes that micro-entrepreneurs need a reliable technology partner for it to thrive in this digital age. More importantly, they need a powerful inspiration that will keep them going through all the ups and downs of running a business, and no inspiration is as powerful as one's family."
