Anilao, known for its rich marine life, is in fact popular in the world for its underwater macro photography. This tiny spot detected in the planet's radar is a haven for international underwater photographers. Now on its 4th year, the Anilao Underwater Photo Shootout is making more waves as expected. Be a part of this festival dubbed as "The Grand Prix of Underwater Photo Competitions", happening on November 23 - 27, 2016. It is a five-day event of diving, adventure, and camaraderie.
Organized by the Philippine Department of Tourism through its Dive - Market Development Group, this unique event marks DOT's efforts in making the Philippines visible in the tourism map, while preserving its advocacy in taking care of marine life. After all, scuba divers, by nature, are involved in conserving natural resources.
International underwater photographers from at least 20 countries are expected to fly in during the week. A distinguished panel of judges, the who's who in underwater photography will grace the occasion. The shootout will take place within the waters of Mabini in Batangas during the day, while nightly seminars will be enjoyed by the participants. These informative seminars will range from marine conservation, learning more about underwater flora and fauna, to underwater photography techniques. These topics will be conducted by the judges, who are experts in their own field.
