Discover the country’s rich marine ecosystem as the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) spear-headed by the Office of Product and Market Development - Dive Group, hold the 5th Anilao Underwater (UW) Photo Competition Festival in Anilao, Mabini, Batangas on November 28 up to December 2, 2017.
As the shootout grows every year, so does the participants and prizes. At stake this year is over US$ 50,000 worth of scuba and underwater camera equipment, dive packages from various partner resorts, and round-trip domestic air tickets to the country’s top dive destinations from Philippine Airlines.
The photo tilt is open to foreign and local underwater photographers and fun divers. “The Nudibranch and Macro Capital of the World,” Anilao is the world’s best destination for underwater macro photography, and is frequently visited by foreign and local divers alike.
The event is a good opportunity to highlight the rich marine biodiversity of the Philippines and in return, bring effort towards its active protection. Seminars will be included in the four-day shootout focusing on the importance of marine preservation, plus underwater photography techniques from experts.
Being at the center of the world's largest marine bio-diversity, the event is also an avenue to spread awareness to both visitors and residents.
Gracing the festival as judges and speakers are world-renowned UW photographers namely David Doubilet, Jennifer Hayes, William Tan, Tobias Friedrich, Yoshi Hirata, and Scott “Gutsy” Tuason.
