As athletes, we tend to befriend our foes. It is a fact that Filipinos are naturally friendly, and it is easy for us to warm up with our opponents outside the battle zone, whether it be a playing court, a pitch, ring, or a cage. It is inevitable that top athletes, specially champions, will end up facing each other.
When that time comes, how does a fighter keep the friendship and respect for each other intact? Fight and face him the best way you can, as it is the only way to show your friend, turned opponent, your utmost respect. Give him a fight he deserves. No mercy, the better.
That is the kind of fight that Filipinos and mixed-martial arts (MMA) fans are expecting between two friends, who will make a new chapter in both their careers when they step together in the cage on November 10, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
