Globe Bags Multiple Recognitions at Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards

Telecom giant cited for its Education, Business,
and Social Innovation Programs

With its groundbreaking programs on education, business, and social innovation, Globe Telecom took home two Gold and three Silver awards during the recent fifth annual Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards.

“Globe continuously makes waves in the business, social innovation, and education space to promote having a digital nation through its different programs. We are inspired by these recognitions that will keep us moving forward to develop more projects to benefit more Filipinos nationwide,” says Ernest Cu, Globe Telecom President & CEO.

The Gold Stevie for Innovation in Living, Learning, and Working Environments was awarded to Project PRISM—a teacher training program that involves almost 1,000 Filipino teachers from 127 schools across the Philippines. It is designed to future-proof the teaching method of educators through a combination of design thinking, an innovative mindset, and a portfolio of tech-enabled tools and applications as technology continues to evolve.

Globe also scored a Gold Stevie for Innovation in Education or Training App for its Coach2Grow application. Coach2Grow (C2G) is adapted from the GROW (Goal, Reality, Options, Way-forward) model, making it the basis of the coaching program of Sales Academy and People Engagement (SA&PE) for the Channel Management Group. This initiative aims to create a digital coaching culture that helps define goals, assess the pros and cons of these goals, and find the most feasible method of achieving them. C2G also aims to improve the coaching style of the leaders within the sales team through performance tracking of mentors and coaches through a user-friendly and intuitive application. It also helps establish a reward system for the coach-coachee tandems each time goals are achieved, fostering social and interpersonal relationships. The app is available online through iOS, Android and the Web, as well as offline.

Meanwhile, Globe Future Makers, a local adaptation of the Future Makers Program established by the Singtel Group of Companies in the Asia Pacific Region,  bagged a Silver Stevie Award for Innovation in Community Relations or Public Service Communications.  Held in collaboration with social innovator Ashoka and venture capital firm Kickstart, Globe was able to support five of the most innovative technology solutions that focused on solving social issues throughout the region namely iVolunteer, The Spark Project, Tula, MilkTrack and Virtualahan.

Rounding up the wins is Globe Business’ two Silver Stevies for Innovation in Business-to-Business Events and Innovation in Business-to-Business Services categories for the group’s Leadership Innovation Forum or the “Lead-In”, and Southeast Asia-United States (SEA-US) Cable System launch, respectively.

The Lead-In is Globe Business’ annual event for enterprises designed as an insightful learning session and sharing of best practices. Instead of focusing on the usual technology topics, focus was on how businesses can go beyond business and help in nation-building.  The SEA-US launch on the other hand, successfully promoted Globe Telecom’s $250 million submarine cable investment which ensures greater connectivity and resiliency as it completely bypasses the Taiwan earthquake zone.

Stevie Awards winners were determined last March and April by the average scores of more than 100 executives around the world acting as judges.

More than 800 nominations from organizations across the Asia-Pacific region were considered this year in categories such as Award for Excellence in Innovation in Products & Services, Award for Innovative Management, and Award for Innovation in Corporate Websites, among many others.

The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards are the only business awards program to recognize innovation in the workplace in all 22 nations of the Asia-Pacific region.  The Stevie Awards are widely considered to be the world's premier business awards, conferring recognition for achievement in programs such as The International Business Awards® for 16 years.

Nicknamed the Stevies, for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards will be presented to winners at a gala banquet at the Mira Hotel in Hong Kong on Friday, 1 June.
